From the world of hotels, I moved into posh private clubs and enjoyed a few great years at the London Capital Club (formerly the Gresham Club). The company that owned the club were based in Hong Kong and as a result I visited Asia a couple of times for work and started to form a good network of contacts over there.
It was still somewhat of a surprise when I received the phone call asking if I would be interested in a Membership Director role in Hanoi, Vietnam. Friends and family questioned my decision (my dear Granny famously saying ‘why can’t you go somewhere nice and safe, like Los Angeles!”), but I was ready for a new challenge.
I will never forget arriving in Hanoi and being handed the keys to my Honda Dream moped. I knew then that life was going to change significantly for me.
