Closing a SaleClaridge’s was always pretty good on the development front, and I particularly remember my one-on-one sales training.  Having spent a few hours working through my sales techniques with the trainer, he was giving me some constructive feedback when my colleague Jenny came back into the office.

“Now let’s talk about how we can improve your clothing,” said the trainer.  Jenny was outraged and immediately leapt in to my defence – feeling very strongly that my choice of attire was none of his business.  “Don’t be rude about her peach suit” she cried, “It’s new”.

What she hadn’t quite appreciated was that the trainer had a slight speech impediment and was actually referring to my ‘closing’ techniques and how they could be improved.

LESSON: ALWAYS STAND UP FOR YOUR COLLEAGUES.
